I loved all the resources that you provided in this post. I tend to overlook audio, so your interview suggestions were a gentle reminder that powerful words come in many forms.

Yes, it’s nice to look at the book from different angles/perspectives. I include the audio here because I know people are busy and sometimes can only connect with me while they are making dinner! But they love authors and books and libraries!

Condolences on your brother. I lost my sister in early 2002, the gap and the wound remain.

I had not heard of Coates til this week, first interviewed on Amanpour. His observations re Israel are congruent with my observations and experiences from over 40 years ago...

Thank you for the condolences. And condolences to you on the loss of your sister. It is very strange to be without someone who has been there your whole life.

Thank you for the condolences! I am loving your book so far! It feels like a needed update to Peggy Orenstein’s Girls and Sex. I see that you mentioned that book. I mentioned it in an essay I wrote for HuffPost that went quite viral. About purity culture (another form of body shaming!).

Oh I’m so glad you’re liking it! And f@&king purity culture. It’s at the root of so much harm!! Glad your piece reached a lot of people! Peggy Orenstein just posted about my book on Instagram omg 🙀

I hope you have a wonderful three weeks! My condolences on the loss of your brother--i look forward to reading your piece. As for the new Ta-Nehisi Coates book, i have the knee-jerk reaction of not wanting to look at it after reading some early reviews. Well, tomorrow is October 7th and then there is Yom Kippur, so perhaps after I get through all of that, I will take a look.

Thanks for the condolences. Life has been crazy for at least five years! After seeing what Coates says about his book in the interviews, I’m curious to read (hear) the book. Oddly, I haven’t read reviews, which usually pop up in the news I subscribe to. But, yeah, tomorrow is going to be a lot. My college roommate is the daughter of a Holocaust survivor with relatives in Israel. I recently texted her for Rosh Hashanah and also asked if she was feeling hopeful about the election. She usually likes to talk about what’s going on with the election, but said she has been so worried about what’s happening in the Middle East that it has taken over all her thoughts.
