Library books aren’t responsible for sexual strangulation. Blaming books for dangerous teen behaviors. Blaming librarians for not ‘hopping to’ fast enough when someone complains about a book. Blaming dogs for being dogs. (Kristi Noem)
There's a commitment speaking face to face that doesn't exist anymore. There was a commitment to coworkers, who are now invisible. People committed through marriage. The operating word here is commitment, and it's vanishing. I sound like I'm 90 : )
It is a different world and, yes, we sound old! But for librarians, the ‘interview’ with the student or patron is important. To figure out what they are really looking for and deliver it.
Sadly I think that’s true (that’s why I added dogs—something good in the world). At one time, it’s seemed like every social problem was blamed on teachers. Now it feels like librarians are the scapegoats.
It's all getting weirder and weirder for young people. Is it me or is the pressure to conform much greater than ever?
It feels like it is, doesn’t it? I’m old, but I think not having social media when I was young was a benefit to me.

Enjoyed this! Thank you for writing, Victoria!
It's so disturbing how book banning and attacks against librarians and libraries are increasing rapidly. Not looking good for freedom in general.
