So Cal peep here! The dreaded Santa Ana winds. When I read that the Indians wanted to throw themselves in the ocean, I had the exact same thought you did, I never wanted to do that! But def, besides our sinuses, the winds just suck! 😊

Yeah—we have ‘weather’ whether or not people from other places recognize it!

For sure, and while we have our issues here I truly love our state and appreciate that in a lot of things, California leads the way in this country.

Loved Elana K Arnold’s words in defense of her own & others’ books being banned. Thanks for always including those banned books updates--to keep them front of mind-- along with the many brave acts of resistance in response. Keep being prickly!

Yes, it’s interesting that Arnold is looking at the same ban that the Hopkins book Crank was up against. It’s good to hear from the authors—that they are not backing down. Thanks for reading—and you know how many needles I have left in me (prickly indeed!).

Well said, Victoria.

I liked that JF interview.

Here’s something that made me smile this week. I follow a few artists and illustrators and this post from Amy Stewart felt like a gift. I love watching kids do “the floss” and the clip she has here makes me think of it. It’s also a sweet story. https://open.substack.com/pub/amystewart/p/could-you-use-some-joy-right-now?r=oqlw9&utm_medium=ios

I hope you get some migraine relief soon.

Thanks for your kind comments and also bit of joy. Love that 1963 dancing! Today, my symptoms are off and on, which usually means that the problems are going away. So—tomorrow is a new week—onward and upward.
