Wow! I knew some of this was happening, but with no kids in the school system, I was not aware of the extent... Especially of banning books based on AI recommendations. It is so so sad... Thank you for posting this! I hope parents can go around this and allow kids to read books that matter... Great article, I appreciate you taking the time to write it and share the information.

I get weeks of curriculum out of every post, not to mention general knowledge and context. I thank you for your passionate voice, and your advocacy for those imperative things, books. I will add that I thought in the US, you could not be a law enforcement officer if you had a conviction, or military misconduct. I guess it must be state by state; when I was there for grad school, I hung out a lot with law students and they emphasised a constitutional principle called full faith and credit, which honours certain legal status in other states, like marriage. Maybe there’s a shortage of law enforcement personnel, but it seems inexplicable and appalling that such a man should be rehired with such a track record. May Ms Massey rest in peace and power and all blessings to those who loved and grieve her. Thank you for this meticulous and galvanising work. Hope you’re feeling much better.
